A Song of Belonging - “For Everyone Born”

We’ve all felt like we didn’t belong, at different times in our lives. Like we weren’t good enough to be loved, weren’t normal enough to be accepted, or weren’t special enough to succeed. This song reminds us that you—no matter who you are—are loved by God, accepted into the kingdom, and can make a holy difference in the world. So remember that no matter what, you are always invited to God’s table.

“For Everyone Born”

For everyone born, a place at the table.
For everyone born, clean water and bread.
A shelter, a space, a safe place for growing.
For everyone born, a star overhead.

chorus:
And God will delight when we are creators
of justice and joy, compassion and peace.
Yes, God will delight when we are creators
of justice, justice and joy!

For woman and man, a place at the table.
Devising the roles, deciding the share,
with wisdom and grace, dividing the power.
For woman and man, a system that's fair.

[chorus]

For young and for old, a place at the table,
a voice to be heard, a part in the song.
The hands of a child in hands that are wrinkled,
for young and for old, the right to belong.

[chorus]

For everyone born, a place at the table,
to live without fear, and simply to be.
To work, to speak out, to witness and worship,
for everyone born, the right to be free.

[chorus]

A Song of Longing - "If I Could Just Sit with You Awhile"

Sometimes, after we have let go of trying to control everything, when the heaviness of the world is just too much, all we can do is collapse in the presence of the Lord. When we can let our souls abide in God’s Spirit, then we will find a peace that is deeper than whatever challenges we face in the world. So let us spend more time just sitting with God, moment by moment.

“If I Could Just Sit with You Awhile”, sung by Jami Smith

When I cannot feel, when my wounds don't heal,
Lord I humbly kneel, hidden in You.
Lord, You are my life so I don't mind to die,
Just as long as I am hidden in You.

[chorus:]
If I could just sit with You a while, if You could just hold me.
Nothing could touch me though I'm wounded, though I die.
If I could just sit with You a while, I need You to hold me.
Moment by moment, 'till forever passes by.

When I know I've sinned when I should have been
Crying out "my God" and hidden in you.
Lord I need you now, more than I know how.
So I humbly bow, hidden in you.

[chorus]

A Song to Brighten Your Day

This playful song is meant to help ease your worries and make you smile. It encourages us to look around at God’s world and remember that no matter what happens, our lives rest in God’s hands.

“Do Not Worry” by Rain for Roots

See the birds that are singing in the spring air?
They're given everything they need.
They don't worry where their next meal will come from.
They don't worry 'bout a thing.

chorus:
So just, look around you and try to listen to
The song creation sings.
And don't you worry cause you're in the hands
Of the God who made everything.

See the flowers in their colorful beauty.
They're dressed better than a king.
They don't worry about what they should wear, no,
They don't worry 'bout a thing.

[chorus]

Because you're not a bird and you're not a flower.
You don't have petals or wings.
But there is good news, you're worth so much more
To the God who made everything.

[chorus]

A Song to Pray for Ourselves

What were we made for, and what does the world need? God has things that we are called to do, things that change people’s lives. And they will know us by our love.

“By Our Love” by Christy Nockels

Brothers, let us come together,
Walking in the spirit, there's much to be done.
We will come reaching out from our comforts,
And they will know us by our love.

Sisters, we were made for kindness,
We can pierce the darkness as He shines through us.
We will come reaching with a song of healing,
And they will know us by our love.

chorus:
The time is now, come church arise.
Love with His hands, see with His eyes.
Bind it around you, let it never leave you,
And they will know us by our love.

Children, you are hope for justice.
Stand firm in the truth now, set your hearts above.
You will be reaching long after we're gone,
And they will know you by your love.

[chorus]

A Prayer Song from Scripture - “Psalm 62” by Aaron Keyes and Stuart Townend

Let this song guide and encourage you today. It is good to pray for others, certainly, but we should also pray for ourselves, as we struggle in the world. So today, pray that your soul can rest in God, no matter what happens.

“Psalm 62” by Aaron Keyes and Stuart Townend

My soul finds rest in God alone, my rock and my salvation.
A fortress strong against my foes and I will not be shaken.
Though lips may bless and hearts may curse,
And lies like arrows pierce me,
I'll fix my heart on righteousness, I'll look to Him who hears me.

chorus:
O praise Him, Hallelujah, my Delight and my Reward.
Everlasting, never failing, my Redeemer, my God.

Find rest, my soul, in God alone amid the world's temptations.
When evil seeks to take a hold I'll cling to my salvation.
Though riches come and riches go, don't set your heart upon them.
The fields of hope in which I sow are harvested in heaven.

[chorus]

I'll set my gaze on God alone and trust in Him completely.
With every day pour out my soul and He will prove His mercy.
Though life is but a fleeting breath, a sigh too brief to measure,
My King has crushed the curse of death and I am His forever.

[chorus]

A Song to Hear as You Pray - “Surely We Can Change” by the David Crowder Band

Let this song be part of your prayer today--as you pray for others, and as you pray for yourself.

“Surely We Can Change” by the David Crowder Band

And the problem is this, we were bought with a kiss.
But the cheek still turned, even when it wasn't hit.

And I don't know, what to do with a love like that.
And I don't know, how to be a love like that.

When all the love in the world, is right here among us.
And hatred too.
And so we must choose what our hands will do.

Where there is pain, let there be grace.
Where there is suffering, bring serenity.
For those afraid, help them be brave.
Where there is misery, bring expectancy.
And surely we can change.
Surely we can change, something.

And the problem it seems, is with you and me.
Not the Love who came to repair everything.

[repeat]

Oh, the world's about to change.
The whole world's about to change.

A Song to Inspire

Here’s a great song to hear these days. Maybe every morning when you’re preparing to face the day. Even though it has some Christmas themes, the presence of Christ is something we can be inspired by everyday. And the peace of Christ that we pray for, let it start in us. Let us be the planters, spreaders, and builders of Christ’s peace. Our world needs actual Christ-followers and peace builders now more than ever.

“Glory (Let There Be Peace)” by Matt Maher

One star burns in the darkness, shines with the promise Emmanuel.
One child born in the stillness, living within us Emmanuel.
We're singing glory, glory. Let there be peace, let there be peace.
Singing glory, glory. Let there be peace, let it start in me.

One voice speak for the voiceless, hope for the hopeless Emmanuel.
One love brings us together, now and forever Emmanuel.
We're singing glory, glory. Let there be peace, let there be peace.
Singing glory, glory. Let there be peace, let it start in me.

Do not be afraid, his love is strong enough to save us.
Nothing stands in the way, his love is strong enough to lead us.

We sing glory (oh we sing glory), glory (the angels sing glory)
Let there be peace (let there be peace), let there be peace (let there be peace).
Singing glory, glory. Let there be peace, let it start in me.

Postlude – “The Solid Rock”

A Hymn of Comfort

The offertory music we had planned for Sunday, March 15, was a piano arrangement of the hymn “Be Still, My Soul.” The hymn text is based on Psalm 46:10 and was written in 1752 by Katharina von Schlegel. The tune is from the beloved classical piece FINLANDIA, composed by Jean Sibelius.

This arrangement is sung by an a cappella boys’ choir from Liberia. The text is provided on the screen so you may follow it as you listen to the beautiful blending of voices. May the peace of the Lord be with you.
