Community Family Movie
We will have Despicable Me projected on the big screen in the Fellowship Hall and will be serving free popcorn and drinks. Please share widely. Let Regina know if you can help with the event or if you need copies of flyers/handouts to distribute. An event has also been created on Facebook for you to share on social media.
Community Egg Hunt
This year we are once again partnering with the Methodist church in hosting an Easter Egg Hunt for families in the community. The event will be at 2pm on Saturday, March 30th on our lawn, between the two churches. If you are able to volunteer that day to help hide eggs or greet families please let Regina know. Flyers for the event can be found on the Sign-Up Shack for you to grab and share throughout the community and with friends and family.
Middle School Snack Food Donation Drive
Thank you to everyone who donated warm winter items for our most recent “Share the Warmth” donation drive for North Buncombe Middle School. We collected over two extra-large trash bags full of socks, gloves, scarves, hats, sweaters, and blankets.
Now we have been asked to collect more needed items for students at the school. Their snack closet is running low and they are seeking donations of small bags of popcorn, Gold Fish, and other chips as well as fruit snacks etc. (We've been told they do have plenty of Pop-Tarts and do not need more of those). Other quick and easy donations like gum, candy, and even Arizona Iced Teas are also welcome additions. A bin will be outside the elevator on the first floor at the Fellowship Hall for your donations. Thank you so much for your continued love and support for the children in our community.
Community Game Night - Sun., Feb. 18, 5:00 pm
Invite your friends and meet up in the Fellowship Hall for an evening of fun, food, and fellowship. Bring your favorite games from home or use one of the many offered by the church.
Improved Basketball Area
Our basketball area has gotten an upgrade! The years had really worn it down, but now it's nice and shiny. So put your stuff on the new bench while you practice your free-throws and 3-pointers! Jackson Alexander spearheaded the work as part of his Eagle Scout project, so a big thank you to him and everyone in Boy Scout Troop 15!
Donation Drive for Kids' Winter Items
Our friends at North Buncombe Middle School have invited us to participate in a donation drive for students in need of warm items this winter. A box has been placed near the elevator on the first floor for donations of new or gently used socks, gloves, knitted hats, earmuffs, scarves, small blankets, or coats.

Thriving Congregations Work Update
Our church’s Thriving Congregations team is hard at work to learn more about our church and community. For the last six months, we have had one-on-one conversations with many of you. Those are continuing, so please say yes when invited!
For the next six months we will be diving into the history of Weaverville and First Baptist. We will also start having small-group Listening Sessions. By the middle of June, we hope that at least half of active church folks will be able to participate in a group listening time.
The sessions will last around 1 hour, and the same questions will be asked in each group of 8-12 people. During these sessions, there will be a group leader (asking the questions), an assistant leader, and a scribe taking notes. Every participant will have a chance to answer the questions.
To help us learn from these listening sessions, if you receive an invitation over the next few weeks, please can join us!
Thank you all for your prayers for this Thriving Congregation work that we are doing.
Hike With Friends!
We had a fun time with a fun group of people (and dogs!) last month, so there will be another good Hike Group trek on Sunday, March 26. A great opportunity to walk an established safe trail with friendly folks. All are welcome!
(Read more details about this trail HERE.)
